#31: He Travels to Vietnam with Michael Redgrave for The Quiet American
Audie traveled to Vietnam to film the 1958 adaptation of Graham Greene’s novel The Quiet American. He appeared alongside respected British actor Michael Redgrave in a story involving politics, journalism, and foreign influence in Southeast Asia.

The production gave Audie a rare opportunity to leave Westerns and traditional war films behind. Its political subject matter represented a major change from his usual screen assignments, but an even darker role would soon test his range.
