The Life of Legendary Hollywood Actor Richard Gere

In 1974, Gere was originally cast as Chico in The Lords of Flatbush, but the role did not last. According to Sylvester Stallone’s later account, the two actors clashed during rehearsals, with Stallone saying Gere got too physical during improvisation and irritated him on set.

The breaking point reportedly came during a lunch break in a car, when Gere brought in chicken covered in mustard and sauce dripped onto Stallone’s pants. Stallone said the conflict turned physical and he told the director it was “him or me,” leading Gere to be replaced by Perry King.
