#1: The Youngest of Six
John Travolta grew up in a busy house in Englewood, New Jersey, with three brothers and three sisters. As the youngest of six kids, he was always surrounded by noise, laughter, and plenty of friendly teasing.

Because he was tall and skinny, his family gave him the nickname “Bone.” It was a name that stuck throughout his childhood and reminded him of his place in the family. Life in such a big household taught John how to speak up, make people laugh, and stand out—skills he would use later in Hollywood.
