#26: Sunshine Skyway Bridge – Florida, USA
It’s beautiful, yes—but it carries ghosts. The Sunshine Skyway Bridge stretches elegantly over Tampa Bay, a golden arc basking in the Florida sun. Yet beneath its design lies a tragic history: in 1980, its predecessor collapsed after a freighter collision, sending cars and a Greyhound bus plunging into the water.

Thirty-five lives were lost. Today’s structure, opened in 1987, is safe and graceful, but it hasn’t escaped darkness. With over 200 suicides, it’s become a magnet for sorrow. Patrols watch closely now, and barriers have been added. It’s a bridge built on memory, one that glows with beauty and hums with loss.
