Leon was one of Dick Solomon’s most bemused students—a young man perpetually baffled by his eccentric professor’s antics. Ian Lithgow played him with a perfect “straight man” quality, quietly reacting while John Lithgow (his real-life father) went full mad scientist. Their classroom scenes had a wonderful, unspoken chemistry—part acting, part family shorthand.
