#25: Melanie Hutsell Then
Melanie Hutsell brought a quirky, off-kilter style to SNL in the early ’90s. Her standout impressions—especially her exaggerated take on Jan Brady—became instant crowd-pleasers. She leaned into awkward physicality and sharply observed mannerisms, giving her characters a peculiar charm that made her a memorable part of the ensemble.

Before her television break, Hutsell had been developing her comedic identity at The Groundlings. That environment encouraged experimentation, and she gravitated toward characters rooted in social satire. Her training there played a huge role in shaping the eccentric, heightened performances she became known for on the show.
